“But You Were Washed” 4 Words that Change Lives

August 11, 2017

Here is a part of the scriptures that changed my life when I started reading it from an entirely different perspective. That perspective when the scales have fallen off my eyes.

Do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived. Neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor homosexuals, nor sodomites, nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners will inherit the kingdom of God.

And such were some of you. But you were washed, but you were sanctified, but you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus and by the Spirit of our God.

1 Corinthians 6:9-11

I am so glad that it does not say the following:

And such were some of you. But you stopped all these. You became a better person.

Nor does it say this:

And such were some of you. But you tried and gave it your best. Even if you’re still failing, you’re still trying to be a better person.

No! There is only one way you are named righteous, in spite of who you were. You were washed. You were sanctified. You were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus and by the Spirit of our God.

Know this. Only Jesus’ blood washes, sanctifies and justifies. Only through Him are you made righteous. Accept His forgiveness and believe His Word.
